Sydenham Lake Canoe Club offers a skills development program designed to train paddlers in the sport of competitive sprint canoe and kayak. The Summer Competitive Program is a full day sprint canoe/kayak athletic development camp that prepares children and youth to compete at Regional and Provincial Canoe Kayak Ontario (CKO) Regattas.
The program is a combination of training and restful activities in keeping with Canada's Long Term Athletic Development progression. This camp will be divided into 2 groups: U10-U12 and U14-U16. Paddlers are required to commit to a minimum of 4 weeks of consecutive or non-consecutive training per season.
Please consult with your child before registering them in this program as they must enjoy and be committed to training and competition. There are 2-5 weekend regattas throughout the season. All participants must be able to swim 25m in a lifejacket.
